Spring by Chloe
It’s the first weekend in March and spring is just around the corner. The snow is almost gone and I’m hoping against hope that it’s on hiatus until next winter. Chloe kindly agreed to write a poem about spring, to whet our appetites for warmer weather and flowers.
*******
“Spring”
In spring the birds can be seen all around
They are singing their sweet and beautiful sound
The melodies that the birds compose
Are as warm and pretty as the sight of a rose
Flowers are always littered around
Daffodils and Dandelions can always be found
Girls are making daisy crowns,
While the boys are jumping, up and down
Eventually though all this must end
With summer coming just around the bend
A Poem by Chloe
It’s been awhile since we’ve had the pleasure of a Chloe poem.
This evening’s subject is “movies.”
Bring a friend, and popcorn to share
Bring your 3-D glasses and other movie-ware
Buy your tickets for ten bucks too much
Prepare to watch your movie and such, and such.
Ode to Sponge Bob by Sophie
Sophie loves “Sponge Bob Squarepants.” This is her ode to him (it’s fairly nonsensical, in a 5-year old “Jabberwocky” kind of way:
Winter/Summer by Chloe
Rock ‘n Roll by Chloe
I love rock ‘n roll
That music comes from the soul
There are keyboards, drums and guitars
It’s out of this world
Just like Neptune, Venus and Mars
Rock ‘n roll’s my favorite type of music in the world
The secrets of music are unfurled
If you listen to it with your heart and ears
It might bring some monumental tears
Yeah!
(You’ll all be interested to know that she came up with this poem in less than 10 minutes).
Sophie’s a Poet, Too!
Here’s Sophie’s first official pinkmenot.com poem:
A cat was on a mat
The mat was on a bat
The bat was on a rat
And the rat was on a mat!
– by Sophie
And now we have a sibling duet full of nonsense:
Dad is awesome
But now he’s on a trip
And when he went
He went by ship
And when he was on the ship
He saw some sharks
And to make the sharks go away
He decided to make some farts
And when he farted
He ate a juicy, juicy apple
Which he married
In the ship’s chapel
While he ate the apple
He found a worm
And then he ate the worm
Which made a squirm

Titanic
Tonight is movie night. Chloe and I are watching “Titanic.” She’s very excited to watch “Titanic.” She likes the cursing so far.
She laughed when Rose told her fiance that the paintings she purchased were by “some artist called Picasso.” We’re raising a very cultured 9-year old.
She also got a kick out of Jack the artist’s comment about one of his drawings, “That’s the good thing about Paris. Lots of women willing to take their clothes off.” The Frenchie in her appreciated the comment – as she remarked, the kids at the beach in France like to be naked.
I love it. Heads: Chloe is a little sophisticate. She knows Picasso! Tails: Chloe is completely naive. She is still young enough to equate sensual naked French women in drawings to naked French kids on a beach!
“The Waves” by Chloe
It’s been awhile since I posted a Chloe poem. Here’s a new one and I think it’s brilliant.
******
The waves from the ocean
Go up and down
They splish and splash,
And twirl around
As I watch the sun go down
I feel like I’m queen of the world
And I deserve the biggest crown
So a smile curls up, upon my lips
In the water my toes all dip
The sun goes down,
down,
down,
down
Until there’s no more light in the sky
Except for the moon
Shining way up high.
Channeling Eminem
Chloe is turning her poetic talents to rap, and Sophie has mastered the tough “shake your booty” look. For those of you who are wondering, ‘mama hoohoo’ is the Mandarin transliteration of “I’m doing ok.” The girls are both taking Mandarin this year in school.
