I’ve written quite a bit over the last six months about my two wonderful, loving, often challenging girls. Let’s face it – Chloe and Sophie are terrific kids, but they are known to drive us crazy at least several times a day with their demands, their temper tantrums, their unchecked emotions…
My husband and I decided to surprise the girls with an excursion to the Ringling Brothers & Barnum Bailey Circus the other day. We rarely succeed in the surprise thing, but this time we managed to keep the lid on it until we arrived at the parking lot, where there was a big sign that said “Park here for circus.”
I know, it’s been a week of these muscle shirt photos, and you’re all (that is, all 5 of you who read this blog regularly) groaning every time you see a new photo of the girls in their new pajamas.

It’s pathetic, really. But we think that Chloe was scammed into giving her Webkinz username and password to a 2nd grader, who then accessed Chloe’s Webkinz account and proceeded to send herself, as gifts from Chloe, all of Chloe’s Webkinz virtual furniture!
This is Sophie. Preacher Sophie. Calling on the masses to listen to her words of wisdom. To commiserate with her about the travails of being a two-year old. And having the fortitude to withstand Chloe, a big sister who by turns treats her like the best thing in the world and an insufferable pest.
You know you’re in trouble when your beautiful 7-year old daughter goes to a fashion show-themed birthday party and comes home with an “Extreme Plump” Lip Gloss kit.
A few comments about the ridiculousness of this picture:
(1) The crib was totally sagging on the right side as soon as my husband climbed into it.
We’ve had a bit of an epiphany over the last week. When our kids watch less television, they’re a lot more enjoyable. You’d think that two highly educated adults like my husband and me would have discovered this a long time ago – we certainly don’t live in a bubble. But TV is convenient. And it’s a free babysitter, as much as I hate to fess up to using it in that way.
The girls look so sweet here. Harmless, loving little girls who love each other very much, and who love their mommy and daddy very much.
