Silly Geese

These are my silly geese. My father used to call me “silly goose” all the time, and now my girls are the silly birds.

This is a photo of Chloe and Sophie being particularly silly. Shaking their booties, and dancing on the coffee table to music playing solely in their heads.

They were also playing “ghost” that evening. It’s a new game, a variation of running around the house. Papa has to participate because he’s the ghost. He puts a blanket over his head and chases after them. If I watch them too intently, especially Sophie, who is like a whirling dervish, I get dizzy.

Sophie apparently has a beau. He’s a bit older than she is, but they had a date at the park today. According to our babysitter, it went very well. They hit it off so well, in fact, that the chaperones accompanied them to McDonald’s for lunch. Sophie enjoyed sharing her chicken nuggets with him. It sounds like they’ll be seeing more of each other. I think we’ll meeting his parents soon.

And as a coda to the Webkinz scam story of the other day, the assistant principal at Chloe’s school spoke to the girl’s father, who promised to mete out punishment. In the meantime, the girl freely admitted what she had done, and apparently saw nothing wrong with it. She simply needed to replenish her Webkinz dollars and was obviously too lazy to play Webkinz games to earn her own money.

A Few Random Friday Thoughts

I took this picture this morning. What do you think of the sisterly love? Chloe had taken a break from her computer to pose for the camera with Sophie. Sophie thoroughly enjoys watching Chloe play games on the computer. Our little one roots for her sister all the time.

Chloe recently learned about a new web site, called www.tvokids.com. TVO is the Ontario equivalent of PBS. We’ll see how long her fascination lasts this go-round. She hasn’t visited the Webkinz web site in ages. Her poor pets would have starved to death long ago had they been endowed with real heartbeats.

Such is life for a 7-year old (actually, she turns seven in a few days). Interests come and go. Obsessions come and go even faster. I’m bracing myself for the next big craze.

Chloe made more woven paper placemats today. Luckily, I wasn’t around for them. Otherwise, I would have pulled my hair out. Sophie spent the day at our babysitter’s place. She saw her friends. She loooovvvves her friends. I don’t think she has a real concept of what “friend” means, but she’s happy to have them in any case.

The end of my second week at work. Even had to go it alone with my boss away for 3 days. I survived. I guess I’m still capable of doing the office thing. It’s good to know. Anyway, we’re going to watch Michael Moore’s “Sicko” tonight. It will probably make us nostalgic for France.

That Was Then, This Is Now

Pardon me for feeling a bit nostalgic today. It’s my 39th birthday. With only one more year to go before the big 40, I’ve been thinking about my youth a little more than usual. Spending a lot of time with Chloe and Sophie over the last few months has also caused increased reminiscing on my part, to be sure.
