Chloe is trying desperately to find ways to earn more money. We have started to give her a weekly allowance in exchange for chores, but once she sets aside her charity and savings allocations, she doesn’t have much left to spend.

A Spring Tease
The weather doesn’t often put a smile on my face, but today nothing could remove the smile plastered on my face. Not work, not quarreling daughters, nothing. Two days before the official start of spring, the sun was in full blast mode and the temperature hit a balmy 75 degrees. After an interminable winter, today served as a reminder to all of us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sunlight, that is. And we’re ever so close to seeing much more of it.
Japan
I have been riveted to the computer these last few days, watching the disaster in Japan seemingly get worse with each passing minute. I can’t imagine what it would be like to experience an event so incredibly devastating.
Sophie the Messy Artist
For a kid who’s always asking, “Do I have anything on my face?” Sophie has no compunction about getting messy. In contrast to me at her age, when I couldn’t bear to wear anything with dirt on it or to get dirty myself, Sophie doesn’t mind so much as long as her face isn’t blemished.
Relaxing Weekend
It was one of those rare weekends that just fell into place. Things at work were finally calm after several weekends in a row of nonstop nonsense. We made a nice meal for some neighbors, who came over last night to enjoy quiche lorraine and mousse au chocolat. And I don’t mean the proverbial “we.” I mean the literal “we.”
There’s a First Time for Everything
I have waited on line for concert tickets. I have waited on line for roller coaster rides. I have waited on line to meet Disney princesses. I have waited on line to board airplanes.
Night With My Girls
Papa is working late tonight. The girls are in their pjs and we’re getting ready to watch “American Idol” together. We have some popcorn, too. I’m looking forward to hanging out with them for an hour and listen to them critique this season’s 13 finalists. I’m fairly certain that almost all of the contestants are going to choose horrible songs to sing, which should make the evening pretty amusing.
Awesome!
Chloe is a very confident 10-year old. She often describes herself as awesome, which indeed, she is (most of the time anyway). However, over the past weekend, she learned from whom she gets those awesome genes. Yes, my dear readers, my awesomeness is her awesomeness.
Happy Birthday, Papa
Today, my dear old hubby is finally as old as me. Happy birthday, Papa!
There’s a First Time for Everything
Boy, did I mess up this weekend. I took Sophie to a classmate’s birthday party this afternoon, only to find out upon arrival that the festivities took place yesterday. The worst part of it is that my calendar had it right. My increasingly unreliable brain, however, was convinced it was today.
