The weather doesn’t often put a smile on my face, but today nothing could remove the smile plastered on my face. Not work, not quarreling daughters, nothing. Two days before the official start of spring, the sun was in full blast mode and the temperature hit a balmy 75 degrees. After an interminable winter, today served as a reminder to all of us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sunlight, that is. And we’re ever so close to seeing much more of it.
Thank goodness. I feel like our little corner of the world came out of hibernation today. I saw people I hadn’t seen in a long time. The sidewalks were crowded with children on bicycles and parents pushing strollers. I saw my first lemonade stand of 2011.
A day like this makes me realize how much I’ve grown to despise the winter. Are we out of the woods yet? Not quite. I’ll start feeling more confident by April 15. In the meantime, I’ll call upon my memories of this lovely day to get me through the next few weeks of incertitude. Spring, you can’t come fast enough!
