It’s been awhile since I posted a Chloe poem. Here’s a new one and I think it’s brilliant.
******
The waves from the ocean
Go up and down
They splish and splash,
And twirl around
As I watch the sun go down
I feel like I’m queen of the world
And I deserve the biggest crown
So a smile curls up, upon my lips
In the water my toes all dip
The sun goes down,
down,
down,
down
Until there’s no more light in the sky
Except for the moon
Shining way up high.
Chloe and I spent the day together. We did some shopping and then went into the city to the New Victory Theater to see “Nevermore,” an operetta fictionalizing the life of Edgar Allan Poe.
This week is video week. After watching the two videos, my one wish is that Chloe and Sophie keep their “silly” for at least another ten years. How can anyone resist their antics? OK, let me reduce the size of the “anyone” sampling – how can anyone in our family resist their antics? I sure can’t.
Pink Me Not just celebrated its third birthday two days ago. Happy birthday, Pink Me Not! I’ve been faithfully maintaining this blog about my girls for three whole years. I never thought I’d last this long. One day, when Chloe and Sophie are adults, they will appreciate my dedication.
Apparently, my French husband loves Halloween. Earlier in the month, he found all of our Halloween decorations and put them in a pile for eventual hanging on the doors and in the windows. And became extremely frustrated when two of the decorations he set out disappeared. I confessed to throwing one of the them in the garbage, but I had no idea what happened to the other decoration. The goblins must have eaten it.
Chloe is turning her poetic talents to rap, and Sophie has mastered the tough “shake your booty” look. For those of you who are wondering, ‘mama hoohoo’ is the Mandarin transliteration of “I’m doing ok.” The girls are both taking Mandarin this year in school.
Chloe, aka Alice, is currently attending her school’s Halloween party with a friend. The wig definitely makes the costume. Chloe just loves her blond wig.
The girls got their daily exercise, and my husband got his weekly exercise, a little while ago. Their new idea of fun is to have their Papa chase after them all over the house. And of course, Sophie and Chloe compete to see who can scream the loudest. I try to hide in a quiet corner somewhere. Doesn’t really work. But between the screams there’s a lot of laughter. And a ton of smiles.
Sophie can’t decide which costume to wear for Halloween. Will she be a mermaid or will she be Belle (from “Beauty and the Beast”)? She’s in a quandary. She may just have to celebrate Halloween twice this year, and she just might have the chance, since her school is having a costume parade on the 29th.
Chloe initially wanted to be Captain Hook, but only if Sophie was willing to be Tinker Bell and someone else agreed to be Peter Pan. But she couldn’t get anyone to go with her plan. God knows, I never would have offered myself up to wear a green bodysuit, tights and cap. Once that plan was foiled, she turned to characters from “Alice in Wonderland.” Choice #1: the Mad Hatter. Choice #2: Queen of Hearts. But too bad, so sad. The costumes were disappointing. She then realized that the costumes for Alice were pretty good. And she found one she liked. With a wig.
Belle and Alice will make quite the pair.
