Scavenger Hunt

We had a scavenger hunt at the Metropolitan Museum of Art today.  The day got off to a rocky start, when Chloe realized that I hadn’t really put together a scavenger hunt.  I was supposed to have researched the museum’s collection online, but that didn’t quite work out.  She started to mope, which made me mope.  And yet, it’s often when I mope that the lightbulbs go off in my head.

I saved the day (and my reputation) when I told the girls that we would go to the museum shop to buy a bunch of postcards.  They would then use those postcards to find the real objects in the museum’s galleries.  Chloe used the clues afforded by each artwork’s description on the card to map out the route and off we went, with Sophie leading the way.

Today’s hunt took us through the European Decorative Arts galleries, the American Art Wing and the South Asian galleries.  Above, Chloe and Sophie pose in front of some of their found treasures.  After all was said and done, we all had a great time.  And I’m already planning the next adventure.
