Over the past week or so, I’ve noticed a slight shift in the relationship between Chloe and Sophie. There’s been less yelling. At first, it was a subtle change. I dismissed it as a one-time fluke.
A few days have passed, and shockingly, the truce continues. Don’t get me wrong, there’s the occasional yelling and swatting. But the yelling and swatting is much less frequent than it was, and Chloe is actually using her big sister, soothing voice more often than her big sister, screaming voice.
I’d like to think that the reason for the detente is because we’re leaving for France soon. I separately warned the girls that they’ll need to get along during our trip because we’re going to be away for a long time and sharing pretty tight quarters. And that if they fought, I’d send them straight back to the USA. Could it be that the message actually resonated with them? Doubtful.
Chloe doesn’t seem to think so, either. Her theory is that it’s all about their secret handshake, established a few days ago. That works for me.
