Almost 30 inches of accumulated snow in the middle of our front lawn. Snow piles that are almost five feet high. Need I say more? If I had wanted to experience this kind of precipitation, I’d be living in South Dakota or Montana.

Keep the Dollar, I’ll Buy an App
Note to the tooth fairy. Dollars are out. Apps are in. Chloe lost another tooth yesterday. The tooth fairy got stuck in the latest snowstorm to hit the east coast, so Chloe reminded me this evening that the tooth fairy forgot about her (wink, wink).
Sophie’s Jungle
The monkey swinging from the vine says, “Hoo hoo ha ha.” The koala climbing the tree exclaims, “It’s hot!” The snake slithers and says, “ssssssss.” The parrot confesses, “I am annoying.” The crocodile stays silent, eyeing his prey, the slithering snake.
Funny Sophie
Sophie has attitude. Sophie is a ham. Sophie wanted to give me a big cuddle when I got home, and she was adamant that I read to her before bed. I guess she saw a little too much of Papa last week and not enough of me.
France!
Plane tickets have been purchased. One apartment rental has been found, and we have one more to go. I have received permission from my new boss to absent myself for four weeks, although I will be working part of the time. After a 4 1/2 year hiatus, we are finally returning to France.
Goodbye, Sunny Arizona
I’m enjoying my last hour of beautiful, cloudless blue skies and warm temperatures before hopping into a cab to go to the Phoenix airport. I understand the temperatures back in NY are supposed to fall into the single digits tonight, that there’s no end in sight to the below-freezing weather and that my front lawn is now home to an additional six inches of snow.
Sophie’s Face
Papa took a photo of the girls this evening because I miss their faces. As you can see, Sophie has a new, temporary hairdo, thanks to a lice scare at school that impacted her a little too personally, if you get my drift (the good news is that it was caught very early).
Arizona! Sun! Desert!
About 48 hours ago, I was getting ready to leave for the airport. Snow had fallen again, freezing rain was coming down and the roads to Newark were treacherous. Despite these obstacles, the flight came close to leaving on time. But that wasn’t meant to be; instead we had to wait on the tarmac for three hours. I was convinced that we wouldn’t leave the airport, let alone make it to our destination.
Terrariums!
Grammy came over today with all sorts of supplies to show the girls how to make terrariums.
Gary, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs
In keeping with yesterday’s theme, Sophie decided to honor one of her favorite cartoon characters by making a Lego version of him and his friends. Chloe helped with Mr. Krabs. Notice how they’re all holding hands. That’s because Sophie is a loving, cuddly little girl, and in Sophie’s world, everyone hugs and holds hands.
I love my Sophie.
