Tiger Woods She Ain’t

We decided to ring in the unofficial start of fall this weekend with an outing to the local miniature golf course. Chloe’s idea. Problem is that Chloe and miniature golf don’t get along very well.

I tried to teach her the Tiger Woods putting stance, but she wouldn’t listen. The photo pretty much captures her posture and her swing throughout the afternoon. Needless to say, she was not particularly successful getting the ball into the hole. And this frustrated her to no end.
Forgetting, perhaps, that she was the one who requested this outing, at one point she asked if we could go home because she was tired of missing. We were only at the 9th hole. We reiterated her need to imitate the Tiger swing and stance, and she then had a few glimmers of success, which she reluctantly admitted was due to the Tiger swing and stance.
The rest of the game was relatively uneventful. But if our Chloe thinks she’s going to talk us into taking her to play miniature golf in the near future, she has another thing coming. Not until she goes to Tiger Woods miniature golf training camp.

The Week is Almost Over

And I’m so glad.  These days, it seems like I’m constantly counting the hours until the weekend. And the countdown generally starts as soon as I go to bed on Sunday night.  At least the stock market is on a roll.  Three days of gains in a row.  I’d forgotten what that was like.

And Tiger Woods is playing golf again.  I hope he’ll still be around this weekend so I can enjoy watching him on our new TV!  Which should be delivered tomorrow.  “Yippee yay!” as little Sophie would say.
The Ides of March are approaching, which means that the year is almost a quarter of the way over.  And tomorrow is our second Friday the 13th in a row.  That’s a pretty rare occurrence.  I’m not particularly superstitious, but when you think about it, it’s not bad timing, considering the crappy year we’ve had so far.

Guess What Sophie’s Eating

Disgusting, no? This photo was taken a week or two ago, at breakfast. It was an intact chocolate muffin. After Sophie got her paws on it, however, it became a mess of crumbs – inedible.

Why do kids do that? Today at lunch she amused herself by pouring, yes pouring, salt onto her french fries. And being slightly more adventurous than her older sister, she ate a couple of them. We told her not to, but she insisted. And then drank her whole cup of milk to compensate for the taste left in her mouth.

Unsurprisingly, Chloe left me with a souvenir before boarding the plane to Florida yesterday. Her germs. I have inherited her sore throat and nausea, and spent most of this afternoon in bed. That’s what I get for cuddling her in her small twin bed in her moment of need. I just hope I feel better quickly. Apparently, Chloe is starting to get over it, but since I’m older – I’m just not as optimistic about a swift recovery. What a way to have to spend the one weekend in over a year when it’s just us and Sophie. On the other hand, better to be sick now than with the two girls at the house.

You know spring is just about here when every other weekend or so, there’s a PGA golf tournament with Tiger Woods. He’s my favorite athlete ever. I don’t play golf, but I love to watch him play. I know, weird. I actually know the game pretty well, considering I tend to watch it obsessively when Tiger is playing well, which is almost always. Don’t I have better things to do with my time, you’re wondering. I’m sure I do. But we all have our vices, no?
