Eleven days and counting. I’m very much looking forward to the R&R, even if I have to work during a portion of our time away. A change in scenery and the peacefulness of the ocean are just the ingredients I need right now.
Sophie needs a vacation, too. Her time a day camp this summer, with the exception of her two weeks at art camp, has not been ok, but not great. I had to drag her out of bed this morning to start this week’s session, and although she’s signed up for the same camp next week, I’m not yet sure if I’m going to send her. I’d like her to see it through because despite her complaints I still think she’s enjoying herself. Besides, she’ll just be loafing around all day if she doesn’t go to camp. On the other hand, she seems a bit tired to me. A little R&R wouldn’t be a bad thing for her, either, as the girls ramp back up in time for the school year.
Speaking of which, Chloe has announced that she might be interested in taking up swimming again. And Sophie has agreed to try out soccer for her sport. All of which makes me wonder if my girls will ever settle on a favorite activity. Because if they take after me, it’s not something I’d be willing to bet on, to say the least. When I was a kid I suffered from attention deficit when it came to extracurricular-stick-to-it-iveness.
When it comes to Chloe and Sophie, however, I’m still banking on college scholarships. It’s not too late to keep hoping.
