The School Cliques Have Started

The cliques have landed.  I was hoping that we wouldn’t have to deal with that awful word for another couple of years, but alas, here we are.  Not even 10 years old and the cliques have started to form.  The in-crowd, with the one dynamic leader who attracts the other kids (even the fifth graders!) into her web.  The “cheerleaders,” who don’t cheer, but who try to lead their apostles by yelling at them.  The weirdos.  The loners.

“A Reverie of Mine” by Chloe

Chloe’s latest work of poetry.  By hook or by crook, we’ll get her published soon!

*********

When I had my dream
It took awhile to understand
I was in a land plush and green,
With bubbling springs at hand

The sky was clear,
With not a cloud in sight
But instead I saw
Birds of every color
Chirping with delight

There were trees full of apples,
Golden to be precise
And if you took a bite
Any wish could come true,
That’s when I started,
Flying through the bright blue

I went up and up
Higher and higher
Until I reached the moon
But that’s when I heard
A ring-a-ding-ding
And I woke up much too soon
