I am obsessed with the idea of taking the girls to France next summer. Not just for two weeks, but for the summer. I want them to really get to know their father’s country.
A Few Days Until Five and a Few Months Until Ten
Four days until Sophie turns five. That’s a big milestone. And just four months until Chloe turns ten. Another big milestone.

When I had my dream
It took awhile to understand
I was in a land plush and green,
With bubbling springs at hand
The sky was clear,
With not a cloud in sight
But instead I saw
Birds of every color
Chirping with delight
There were trees full of apples,
Golden to be precise
And if you took a bite
Any wish could come true,
That’s when I started,
Flying through the bright blue
I went up and up
Higher and higher
Until I reached the moon
But that’s when I heard
A ring-a-ding-ding
And I woke up much too soon

Three Days Into the School Year
Sophie seems to be adjusting well. She’s making some friends, I think, although she can’t remember their names. She hasn’t yet had any homework, but she has a nice sturdy homework folder. We haven’t had to buy supplies for her, either.
First Day of School
In keeping with the theme of yesterday’s post, today was our last first day of kindergarten. It’s funny – I was quite excited about Sophie starting kindergarten – up until I left her in the classroom this morning.
Firsts and Lasts
Kindergarten. The day is finally upon us. Little Sophie is starting kindergarten tomorrow at the tender age of 4 years and 351 days.
Kindergarten Countdown
In two days, Sophie starts her elementary school education. She’s nervous. Whenever the subject is mentioned, she her big brown eyes open wide and hunches her shoulders to convey her anxiety.
