Letter #2
8/9/10
Dear Family,
Sorry I have to write so soon. They made us write today. I sent a letter to Barbara. It gets really hot at night. I had a bit of trouble sleeping, but it was okay. We had a campfire yesterday. Erica and I played cards. The food here is pretty good. For lunch yesterday we had tacos.
I miss you so much!
Love,
Chloe
Chloe’s First Letter
Dated: 8/8/10
Dear Family,
It’s my first day. So far, so good. I got your letter on the first day. I feel rather relaxed considering I’m in sleepaway camp. Then again, it is rest period. Sorry the letter is short. Again, it is my first day.
The counselors are nice. I miss you guys soooo much.
Love,
Chloe
Future Sleepaway Camper
I’ve been able to preview a few photos of Chloe taken at sleepaway camp, and so far it looks like she’s having a great time. Lots of smiles all around.
Camp!
We arrived at 9:40 am and were gone by 11 am. As we were driving up the camp road, Chloe caught a glimpse of the lake and broke into the widest grin I’ve ever seen. A rock climbing wall in the middle of the lake! A trampoline in the middle of the lake! “Amazing!”
Twelve Hours
In less than 12 hours, Chloe will leave the comfort of her home to spend 12 days in the hills of Pennsylvania (aka the Poconos) in a small bunk with 8-10 other girls. We have packed everything, and as long as we don’t forget to bring her sleeping bag so she can commune with nature in the woods and her boots so she can commune with the horses, Chloe will be all set.
Swimming Sophie
It looks like it could be the ocean. But it’s not. It’s a jacuzzi. Sophie really liked the jacuzzi at our friends’ house. She thought it was a hoot.
Four Days and Counting Until Camp Cayuga!
In four days, we will be dropping Chloe off at sleepaway camp for a two-week vacation. A vacation for us, that is! Just kidding. Chloe is already packed and ready to go. All told, she will have spent four weeks away from home this summer. Pretty amazing for a 9-year old.

Lobotomy
We went shopping at the mall earlier today. I really do not like shopping at the mall with the munchkins. Sure enough, the girls didn’t disappoint. We were at the store and Chloe was upset because she saw something she liked and we didn’t get it for her. Sophie was upset because she saw something she liked and we didn’t get it for her. I went to the cash register to pay for what we decided to buy and the two of them were still sad and whiny. The hubby saw that I’d just about had it and he asked, in French, “What do you need?”
